Cooperative Music Event Video
SO SO LOBI is a collective that puts on music events and gives the money they raise to humanitarian causes. The founder of SPC Studio directed, filmed and edited a 44-second vertical film for their Instagram that does two jobs: aftermovie for the first edition and teaser for the second.
The brief
One video, two audiences. People who were at the first night should recognise it straight away. People who missed it should want to be at the second. And it all had to work in a phone feed, where you have a second or two before someone scrolls past.
Shooting the night
He filmed on the dance floor and around the venue, plus street shots on the way there. Party footage is dark and never stands still, so the edit leans into that with motion blur, colour washes and light leaks instead of trying to make it look clean.
Cut for the feed
The film is vertical from the first frame and runs 44 seconds. The SO SO LOBI 2.0 title sits big and red over the street footage, so even a quick scroll tells you a second edition is coming.
Why it mattered
It was his first project with SO SO LOBI. Being part of a crew that turns a good night out into money for people who need it made it easy to say yes, and it was a great experience to bring that help. The film was made in collaboration with Basmatie, a volunteer-run organisation in Ghent that supports people in Sudan affected by conflict and displacement.
The result
The film went out on SO SO LOBI's Instagram to promote the second edition. No figures to share.
